Scope of Coverage

An IP right means a patent; a trademark; a geographical indication; a design; a copyright or related right; a domain name; a layout-design (topography) of integrated circuit; a plant variety right; a right in confidential information, trade secret or know-how; a right to protect goodwill by way of passing off or similar action against unfair competition; or another IP right of whatever nature.

This panel is to identify and bring together leading and reputable IP experts with the view to promoting the highest quality of professional practices in the development, protection, commercialization and enforcement of IP rights to cater for the needs of the modern society.

This panel is to explore and enhance the access of IP experts to the public (including but not limited to industry organizations, professional bodies, and Intellectual Property Rights panels) for the provision of expert opinions on IP rights and other aspects of intellectual property arising from or relating to the day-to-day use of IP rights by members of the society.

Criteria of becoming members of Intellectual Property Rights Panel

Fellow Member: Persons with substantial experience (at least 15 years) in the areas of development, protection, commercialization and enforcement (including but not limited to preparation of expert opinion report) of IP rights recognized by this panel and approved by IIE Council.

Ordinary Member: Persons with abundant experience (at least 7 years) in the areas of development, protection, commercialization, and enforcement (including but not limited to preparation of expert opinion report) of IP rights recognized by this panel and approved by IIE Council.

Associate Member: Persons with relevant professional bodies relating to the development, protection, commercialization and enforcement of IP rights, and persons who have completed relevant course in IP rights with experience recognized by this panel and approved by IIE Council.
